BACOLOD CITY – The Bacolod City Police Office said that the city government is offering a cash reward of P20,000 to P50,000 for information on unsolved killings here.
The amount was revealed after Mayor Albee Benitez met Police Col. Joeresty Coronica, officer-in-charge of the BCPO, to discuss Coronica's proposal.
Police Lt. Rowena Jean Magan, BCPO spokesperson, said the BCPO created a technical working group (TWG) to validate information relayed to them and assess significance to the progress of a case.
Magan said the BCPO will create parameters as basis for the reward system. She added that they will announce the procedure of the reward system once they have gathered all the necessary documents.
She said the BCPO is currently checking the timeline of unsolved cases.
Coronica proposed the reward system to Benitez upon assuming the position here to stir the social responsibility of witnesses and encourage them to surface and cooperate with the police to solve a crime.
