In a statement, Maj. Gen. Nelson Morales, PSC chief, said they remain committed and professional in keeping the Vice President safe.

"The PSC remains to be a professional and mission oriented AFP unit committed to accomplishing its new task of securing the Vice President," Morales said.

"We will accomplish that mission," he added.

With the reorganization of the PSC, previously Presidential Security Group (PSG), into a full command, the Vice President Security and Protection Group is now its sub-unit.

"The PSG was reorganized  into a Command from a Group. It was renamed to Presidential Security Command. The VPSPG is now a sub-unit of the PSC," Morales said.

It can be recalled that on July 22 Vice President Duterte was stripped of police security escorts. She confirmed that the chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) has ordered the relief of 75 police personnel previously assigned for her security.

The VPSPG was activated in June 2022 to provide the Office of the Vice President (OVP) with a dedicated unit to ensure the safety and security of the second-highest elected official in the country.
