Members of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) arrested a jeepney barker after he allegedly stabbed a merchandizer in Barangay Gulod, Novaliches, Quezon City on Wednesday evening, Aug. 2.
QCPD Novaliches Station (PS 4) identified the suspect as Joel Marimla, 25, a resident of Barangay Gulod.
Initial investigation disclosed that the victim, Miguel Gregorio, 23, was buying soap at a sari-sari store on Sta. Barbara Street in Brgy, Gulod, at around 4 p.m. when the suspect suddenly came from behind and stabbed him in the neck with a bladed weapon.
The victim was rushed to the Novaliches District Hospital for medical treatment.
The incident was initially reported by the witness and the victim’s live-in partner, Jeanel Millar, to Brgy. Gulod officials who then sought help of the police at around 9:30 p.m.
A follow-up operation was conducted by the PS 4 which led to the arrest of the suspect in his residence. The weapon used by the suspect was not recovered.
Authorities are still investigating the suspect’s motive in committing the crime.
Police said the victim relocated in the area just about a month ago.
Marimla will be charged with frustrated murder before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office, the QCPD said.
