5 MPD cops tagged in robbery extortion surrender

Hours after national police chief Gen. Benjamin Acorda, Jr tapped two more units to locate them, the five policemen who were accused of robbery extortion during a computer shop raid in Sampaloc, Manila have surrendered at Camp Crame in Quezon City on Monday night, July 18.

The five cops— Staff Sgts. Ryann Paculan and Jan Erwin Isaac, Corporal Jonmark Dabucol, and Patrolmen Jeremiah Pascual and Jhon Lester Pagar— surrendered to Acorda but stressed that they are innocent of the accusations being hurled against them.

In a statement, the five MPD policemen said their July 11 operation was legitimate and pointed to the computer shop as a front to illegal gambling.

They said they have enough proof through intelligence build-up and a document from the City government of Manila stating that the computer shop in Barangay 525 in Zone 52 in Sampaloc  has no business permit.

The five policemen were accused of ransacking the computer shop and demanding a weekly payola from the owner.

But the five cops said the allegation is not true.

Acorda earlier tapped the Intelligence Group and the Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (IMEG) to locate the five MPD policemen who were earlier declared on AWOL (absent without official leave) after they failed to surrender to MPD director Brig. Gen. Andre Dizon.
