Lt. Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr., PA commanding general, led the closing ceremony at the headquarters of the 2ndInfantry “Junglefighter” Division (2ID) at Camp Capinpin in Tanay, Rizal.

Brawner expressed immense pride as 122 personnel from the 22nd Division Reconnaissance Company of 2ID completed various drills with a platoon from the Australian Army that enhanced their interoperability.

“I congratulate all of you for accomplishing the objectives of this endeavor – to elevate each other’s competencies and strengthen our bonds as friends and protectors of peace,” he said.

The exercise enhanced the urban warfare capabilities of the Filipino troops which they learned from the Australian soldiers. On the other hand, the Filipino troops also imparted their knowledge and skills in jungle warfare to their Australian counterparts.

The more than two-week training began on June 15.

Brawner is hopeful that more army exercises between the two countries will follow after the Kasangga drill.

The first phase of Kasangga was held from May 15 to June 5.

This year’s exercise Kasangga is the 13th iteration of PAAAE between the PA and Australian Army.
