'It is a game changer': DOH launches advanced-tech cath lab in Bataan


With Secretary Teodoro J. Herbosa at the helm, the Department of Health (DOH) has inaugurated the first-ever state-of-the-art catheterization laboratory at the Bataan St. Joseph Hospital and Medical Center in Balanga City.

"It is a game changer in the arena of cardiovascular care," Herbosa said in a statement on Friday, Dec. 15.

“The establishment of the very first cath lab in the region, equipped with state-of-the-art technology signifies more than just the acquisition of a machine," he added.

The DOH emphasized that the initiative is now equipped with the state-of-the-art General Electric (GE) "IGS 5" with AutoRight, setting a new benchmark in cardiovascular care technology. Under the visionary leadership of Dr. Angel Aquino is now at the forefront of innovation in healthcare.

The said technology incorporated into the catheterization laboratory, especially the AutoRight feature, presents a promising beacon of hope for individuals dealing with cardiovascular ailments.

"AutoRight, the first intelligent image chain with adaptive intelligence, facilitates timely diagnosis and advanced treatments," DOH said.

Meanwhile, the DOH Secretary underscored the goal of strengthening the health system for every Filipino.

"Through our hard work, commitment, and service, we can ensure a stronger health system for every Filipino dahil sa Bagong Pilipinas Bawat Buhay ay Mahalaga (because in 'Bagong Pilipinas,' every Life is valuable)," he said.

This dedication to advancing healthcare nationwide includes embracing technological advancements and delivering quality service, as outlined in the Department of Health's 8-Point Action Agenda "Para sa Healthy Pilipinas" - "Teknolohiya para sa mabilis na serbisyong pangkalusugan" (Technology for swift health services).

Moreover, to acknowledge the collaborative effort behind this achievement, Herbosa gave credit to hospitals and local governments for the success of the initiative.

"This synergy exemplifies the strength of partnerships and signals the potential for future collaborations aimed at advancing cardiovascular care initiatives," DOH noted.
