BUTUAN CITY – The strict implementation of the “No Plate, No Travel” policy by the different units of Police Regional Office 13 (PRO 13) had resulted in the apprehension of 9,287 traffic violators from July 18 to Nov. 22 this year in Caraga region.

The Butuan City Police Office (BCPO) also impounded 220 motorcycles.

Based on the data from the PRO 13-Regional Operations Division (ROD), the BCPO issued the highest number of TCT with 4,481, followed by Surigao del Sur Police Provincial Office (PPO) with 3,386, and Agusan del Sur PPO with 886.

Meanwhile, Agusan del Norte PPO, Dinagat Islands PPO, and Surigao del Norte PPO also contributed to the accomplishment with 492, 27, and 15 issued Traffic Citation Tickets (TCTs), respectively.

PRO 13 Director Police Brig. Gen. Kirby John B. Kraft said police officers are officially deputized under the Land Transportation Office (LTO) to issue citation tickets to drivers who violate Section 5(a) of Article I, Chapter II of the Republic Act 4136 or the “Land Transportation and Traffic Code” that states, “No motor vehicle shall be used or operated on or upon any public highway of the Philippines unless the same is properly registered for the current year in accordance with the provisions of this Act.”

“The stricter implementation of this policy aims to curb illegal activities of lawless individuals who intentionally use motorcycles and motor vehicles with no license plates to commit crimes,” Kraft said.

The region’s top cop encouraged vehicle owners and drivers to bring with them all the documents to avoid any delay during an inspection.
