Police net P12-M shabu in 24 hours


CEBU CITY – Suspected shabu worth P12 million was seized by the police in a 24-hour operation in Central Visayas.

Police Brig. Gen. Anthony Aberin, chief of the Police Regional Office-Central Visayas (PRO-7), said 1.7 kilograms of shabu were seized by various police units in the region from 6 a.m. on November 13 to 6 a.m. on November 14.

In Cebu City, the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) seized 405 grams of shabu worth P2,754,000 from Odot in Barangay Carreta.

Some 355 grams of shabu worth P2,414,000 were also confiscated from a businessman and his alleged cohort in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Dao, Tagbilaran City, Bohol.

The CCPO CDEU seized a huge amount of shabu in Barangay Bulacao from a drug suspect – 1,022 grams worth P6.9 million.

Aberin said the PRO-‘7s continuing efforts against illegal drugs in Central Visayas is in response to the strict instruction of Interior and Local Government Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr. to stop the proliferation of illegal drugs under the Buhay Ingatan, Droga’y Ayawan program.
