Four Rizal towns suspend classes due to vog

The local government units of Binangonan, Cardona, Angono and Taytay in Rizal Province suspended classes in all levels on Monday, Oct. 9, due to the effect of the volcanic smog in their areas.

The office of Binangonan Mayor Cesar Ynares said the recommendation of the Binangonan Municipal Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC) has prompted the local government unit to suspend classes in both public and private schools in all levels the municipality for Oct. 9.

In Cardona, Rizal, the office of Mayor Bernardo San Juan, Jr. also suspended classes in all levels, public and private schools, in the town based on the recommendation of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.

In Angono, Mayor Jeri Mae Calderon announced that face-to-face classes in Angono, Rizal were also suspended following the recommendation of the town’s MDRRMC

In Taytay, Rizal, the office of Mayor Allan De Leon said the presence of smog in the municipality has prompted the MDRRMC to propose to the local chief executive the suspension of classes ahead of the start of early morning classes.

Health authorities said volcanic smog or "vog" poses health hazards especially to the vulnerable sector such as those with health conditions and senior citizens.
