Mac Tallo was formally released by Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3x3 on Friday, Oct. 20, opening doors on a possible return to the 5-on-5 basketball.
Chooks-to-Go expressed its gratitude to Tallo who, after leaving the full court action, went on to become the country's top 3x3 player while playing for the Cebu Chooks! for two years.
"Chooks Pilipinas is grateful for the service Tallo has done for the country, including being the country's number one-ranked 3x3 player. Tallo has exemplified the spirit of dedication, hard work, and passion that defines Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas," said Vice President of Chooks Inc. Mel Macasaquit
"Tallo's transition to 3x3 basketball showcased his adaptability and resilience. His performances on the court have brought pride and inspiration to fans across the nation. Although he now embarks on a journey back to 5-on-5 basketball, we want to assure Mac that our unwavering support and cheers will always be with him," he added.
Tallo, a first round pick in the 2017 draft, is trying to make a comeback to the PBA and actually played for Converge FiberXers in a pre-season pocket tournament in preparation for the upcoming 48th PBA season.
Should Tallo gets formally signed by the FiberXers, he will get reunited with head coach Aldin Ayo who was his mentor in the MPBL as part of the Bicol Volcanoes and in the Chooks 3x3 when they won the Chooks-to-Go FIBA 3x3 Asia Pasific Super Quest last year.
Familiarity immediately worked wonders in the reunion of Ayo and Tallo with the explosive combo guard finishing with 24 points on five triples in one of the FiberXers pre-season games
The 29-year-old guard briefly played for TNT and NLEX before strutting his wares in the MPBL with Bacolod, Manila and Bicol.
