200 sacks of garbage collected in Parañaque clean-up drive


Around 200 sacks of garbage were collected by the Parañaque city government during its clean-up drive at the protected coast of the cities of Las Piñas and Parañaque on Sunday, Oct. 1.

He said 280 volunteers joined the clean-up drive at the Piñas-Parañaque Wetland Park. 

Mayor Eric Olivarez led the clean-up drive as part of his weeklong services and programs to the city in celebration of his birthday on Oct. 4.

Olivarez was joined by City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO); Cleanliness, Beautification, and Sanitation Office; City Veterinary Services Office; City Agriculture, Fisheries, and Aquatic Services Office; officers of the city’s Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management Council, Bureau of Fire Protection and the Philippine National Police.

The Las Piñas-Parañaque Wetland Park, connecting the cities of  Las Piñas and Parañaque, was proclaimed as a Critical Habitat by the Philippine government through Presidential Proclamation No. 1412 on April 22, 2007. 

The park is home to important bird habitats such as mangroves, beach forests, lagoons, and mudflats.
