Cagayan declares readiness for STY ‘Mawar’


TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan – The Cagayan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) is ready for the possible impact of super typhoon “Mawar.”

Arnold Azucena, head of the Task Force Lingkod Cagayan-Quick Response Team (TFLC-QRT), presented their preparations and contingency plans during the PDRRMC meeting on Thursday, May 25, at the provincial capitol.

According to Azucena, their 157 rescuers from seven TFLC stations located in Amulung, Lal-lo, Gonzaga, Sanchez Mira, Ballesteros, Tuao, and here  are on standby status.

He added that floating assets and other equipment are ready in case of need, especially in evacuating those who may be affected by the typhoon.

Bonifacio Quarteros of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) said that 2,500 packs of rice of five kilos each, 4,000 sacks of rice of 50 kilos each, canned goods, and non-food items are also ready for distribution to those who will be affected.
