President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. has warned the perpetrators behind the killing of Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo that the government will run after them as they have received "much information" about the incident.
In a statement, the President deplored the assasination of Degamo, who was attacked right inside his home by several individuals in "full battle gear" and "pixelized uniform," according to police.
"I condemn in the strongest possible terms the assassination of a sitting Governor, Gov. Roel Degamo of Negros Oriental," Marcos, who in his Twitter account posted photos of him with the governor, said.
With five people also wounded due to the attack, the President said his government will "not rest until we have brought the perpetrators of this dastardly and heinous crime to justice."
He made the warning as the probe into the incident, which took place while Degamo was entertaining beneficiaries of the 4Ps program in Barangay San Isidro in his hometown Pamplona, "is developing rapidly."
"We have received much information and now have a clear direction on how to proceed to bring to justice those behind this killing," he said.
Marcos then warned all those involved in the killing: "You can run but you cannot hide."
"We will find you. If you surrender now it will be your best option," he warned strongly.
