Software engineer drowns in La Union beach

CAMP DIEGO SILANG, La Union – A software engineer drowned in a beach in Barangay Urbiztondo, San Juan, La Union on Saturday, Feb. 25.
Police identified the victim as Benedeck Semo, 29, a resident of Barangay Culiat, Quezon City.
Investigation said Semo was swimming and disappeared after he was dragged by a strong wave into the deep portion of the sea.
The victim’s companion, Joshua Panganiban, sought assistance from surfers and bystanders and Semo was rescued after he was seen floating in the sea.
Police rushed the victim to the hospital here he was declared dead.
