DPWH completes P94.5-M flood shield project in Tarlac

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH has completed the construction of the P94.5 million flood control protective structure at the Bangut River in Capas,Tarlac.

DPWH Tarlac Second Engineering Office District Engineer Edward Ricardo G. Ramos said the 557.20 meter structure was constructed at the Barangay Santa Lucia section of the river.

He stated that the concrete structure built on the right side of the river will protect local residents and the agricultural properties from flooding especially during heavy rains of long duration.

“This flood mitigation structure will keep residents safe and allow the continuity of all economic and social activities even during the rainy season,’’ Ramos stressed.

He pointed out that the newly completed flood control project is connected to the existing concrete river walls that serve as the community’s first line of protection during calamities that help prevent the possible overflow of the Bangt River.

The fund for the construction of the project was sourced from the General Appropriations Act (GAA) of 2022. (Chito A. Chavez)
