Former barangay captain in Isabela found dead

ISABELA – A former barangay captain was found dead in a cornfield in Brgy. San Antonio, in Sta. Maria town here on Friday, Jan. 6.

Police investigators are still validating a report if the death of Facundo Bingayan, 74, has something to do with a land dispute.

According to the victim’s relative, Bingayan, former barangay captain of Poblacion Uno in this town, left on Jan. 5 and never returned.

“Hindi na siya nakauwi noong January 5 at kinabukasan nang nakita ang biktima na wala ng buhay,” the police quoted the relative as saying.

The victim had a gunshot wound in his left forehead.

The police report added that the victim had not engaged in any quarrel with anybody.
