Robredo receives excellence award from Indian business federation


Vice President Leni Robredo was awarded with the Golden Peacock Award of Excellence for her contributions in strengthening Philippines-India relations.

The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce Philippines Inc. (FICCI) feted Robredo with the award on Friday, June 17.

FICCI President Rex Daryanani and other board members of the federation personally handed over the award to Robredo during their visit to her office.

Robredo expressed her gratitude to the FICCI for working with the Angat Buhay program she put up under her term in office.

The FICCI also conveyed to the outgoing Vice President their group's intention to continuously support the Angat Buhay initiative which is mulled to be a non-government organization once Robredo's term ends.

Angat Buhay program was implemented to provide assistance to Filipinos in need during Robredo's time in office.

After her term, it is expected to be one of the biggest volunteer-driven NGOs in the country.

The FICCI was established in 1952. It is the lead business organization of the Filipino-Indian community in the Philippines. It is also one of the oldest ethnic business chambers in the country.
