Xavier captures overall Inter-School title

Members of the Xavier School golf team were presented by Duane Tan and Oliver Gan to school officials in San Juan.

Xavier School San Juan bagged its first overall title in the Inter-School tournament following a strong showing in all categories during the final two rounds of the competition held recently at the Mimosa Plus Golf Course in Clarkfield, Pampanga.

Xavier captured the Lower School title as the team of Kenzo Tan, Kenji Yamada, Jesus Yambao and Matteo Yazon combined for 289 points, besting Homeschool Global (255) and Immaculate Conception Academy (ICA) Green Hills in San Juan (248).

Xavier had two first runner-up finishes, placing second overall in Senior High and in Junior High both behind La Salle Zobel.

In the Middle School division, Xavier placed third overall behind Ateneo and La Salle Zobel. Under the Inter-School rules, the school or teams with the most finishes in the top three per category takes home the overall championship.

Xavier finished in the top three in all four divisions, while La Salle Zobel had only three. “We really planned out the development of the varsity team this year,” said Duane Tan, a council member at Xavier.

"We did a lot of training programs for both the developmental and championship divisions.” “We had a lot of practice sessions, June-July we formed the team already and started to conduct the training already,” added Tan.

The members of the teams were presented recently by Tan and Xavier vice president for sports and JGFP president Oliver Gan to the school's officials. They were Rico See, Jacob Chua, Jet Ang, Sebastian Arenas and Emilio Carpio for Senior High, Geoffrey Tan, Gabriel See, Rafa See, Enzo Andre Cham and Seth Koa for Junior High, and Mico Ungco, Cade Santos, Rafael Cody Hernandez, Nathan de Leon and Perry Joshua Bucay for Middle School.
