Rep. Allan Ty, LPGMA Partylist (House of Representatives website)

Allan U. Ty is the representative of the LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) Marketers Association (LPGMA) Partylist in the 18th and 19th Congress.

Ty co-founded the LPGMA Party-list in 2003 to protect the welfare of LPG consumers and address “the safety concerns in the industry,” according to the party-list website.

The group was formed to protect the rights of consumers, to give them access to reasonably-priced LPG, and exercise their freedom to buy any brand of the commodity in the market.

LPGMA Partylist believes that a “family is always at the center of nation building,” and in line with this, it has implemented community building programs in partnership with the Department of Interior and Local Government and local government units (LGUs) to introduce “family-oriented modules” to communities.

It has also partnered with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) for the possible rollout of poverty reduction initiatives similar to the agency’s Pantawid Pamilya and sustainable livelihood programs.

Other initiatives include scholarship grants, donations of medicines and ambulances to hospitals, feeding programs in depressed areas, and assistance to residents in communities affected by natural disasters in Regions 1 (Ilocos), 2 (Cagayan Valley), 3 (Central Luzon), 4 (Calabarzon), and National Capital Region (NCR).

Ty graduated from San Beda College in 1993 with a degree in economics. He completed a law degree at the Arellano University, and passed the Bar in 2001.

As a member of the House of Representatives, Ty has been behind many bills, among them as one of the principal authors of House Bill (HB) 4102, or the Plastic Bags Tax Act.
