Creamline tackles Cignal

By NIKOLE JAVIER

Creamline tries to chase solo leader Chery Tiggo when it faces Cignal on Saturday, Oct. 22, in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference at the Sta. Rosa Multipurpose Complex in Laguna.

The Cool Smashers will try to pick up their third straight win and deal the HD Spikers their second loss in three outings in their 5:30 p.m. encounter.

Behind a convincing victory against the 2019 PVL Reinforced Conference champion Petro Gazz Angels last Oct. 18, 25-19, 16-25, 25-18, 27-25, Creamline is aiming to ride the momentum with reliable import Yeliz Basa, and local stars Alyssa Valdez and Jema Galanza manning the frontlines.

With Basa’s 28 points in the offensive end, Valdez held down the fort with an all around effort of 14 points apart from 22 excellent digs for Creamline.

Cignal, on the other hand, stands in the way but should be filling all the gaps following a four-set defeat against Chery Tiggo Crossovers last Oct. 15, 23-25, 25-20, 21-25, 20-25. Tie Bierria and Ces Molina combined for 29 points in the losing effort.

Petro Gazz and Akari, meanwhile, clash in the 2:30 p.m. offering.

The Chargers, who are also coming off a five-set beating against the Crossover last. Oct. 20, 25-23, 21-25, 25-21, 21-25, 6-15, will continue to bank on their import in Prisilla Rivera after her 30-point outburst while Janine Marciano contributed 24 markers.
