The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) distributed on Tuesday, Oct. 4, a total of P400,000 worth of livelihood aid to a group of distressed overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in the Cagayan Valley region.
OWWA Regional Welfare Office 2 (RWO2) said the beneficiaries were proponents of the Balik Pinas, Balik Hanapbuhay (BPBH) program from Quirino Province.
Seventeen beneficiaries received a total amount of P20,000, while six of them were awarded P10,000.
“BPBH is a package of livelihood support/assistance intended to provide immediate relief to returning member-OFWs (distressed/displaced) amounting to a maximum Php20,000.00 as a start-up or additional capital for the livelihood project,” the OWWA RWO2 statement read.
The BPBH program is a training and employment project under the National Reintegration Center for OFWs (NRCO) intended to expand employment and economic opportunities for OFWs through livelihood and skills training, including the distribution of business starter kits.
To avail of the program, OWWA said beneficiaries must complete a small business management training and financial awareness seminar from the OWWA and NRCO.
Active OWWA members are entitled to receive a maximum grant of P20,000.
