The head of United Kingdom's Counter Terrorism and Extremism Network (CTEN) for Asia met with military officials of the Western Mindanao Command and discussed areas of cooperation on maritime domain awareness and security.
Brig. Gen. Arturo Rojas, WestMinCom Deputy Commander for External Defense Operations, said he and Chris Felton discussed AFP policies, programs, and current initiatives on how to better understand common concerns between the Philippines and the United Kingdom.
"Areas of cooperation where the UK government can further support the Philippine government were determined, particularly in maritime domain awareness and maritime security," said Rojas.
Felton led the CTEN for Asia based in the British High Commission in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
As Hub Head, Felton liaises with colleagues in the UK posts in the Asia Pacific and in London to understand the risk of terrorism in the region to the UK nationals and to work with local partners to reduce the risk.
The meeting occurred on Wednesday, Sept. 7, at WesMinCom headquarters.
