BATANES -- The National Power Corporation (Napocor) started implementing a ‘power curtailment’ or shortening of operations in this archipelagic province on Saturday, Sept. 3.
This was the latest public advisory from the office of Governor Marilou H. Cayco who was informed through a letter by the Small Utilities Group of Napocor.
Curtailment is the deliberate reduction in output below what could have been produced in order to balance energy supply and demand or due to transmission constraints.
The office of the governor stressed that although the amendment to order or additional fuel for Napocor Batanes has been approved, it has not yet been loaded onto the ship due to port congestion in Bataan and bad weather caused by typhoon Henry.
"Dahil dito, mula alas otso ng umaga hanggang alas dose ng hatinggabi (8am - 12mn) lamang ang kuryente sa buong Probinsiya. Ito ay magpapatuloy hanggang sa dumating ang karagdagang fuel supply ng Napocor (Because of this , we will only have power from 8 a.m. to 12 midnight in the whole province. This will continue until additional fuel supply for Napocor arrives),” the public advisory said.
Governor Cayco vowed to coordinate with the management of Napocor to ensure that such fuel supply would be brought to the province in earnest.
