Comelec receives more than 235K applications for voter registration


The Commission on Elections (Comelec) said 235,153 individuals have already filed their applications to become registered voters in the December 2022 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) polls as of July 6.

The more than 235,000 new registrants are those aged 15-17 years old with 138,645 applicants; 18-30 years old with 81,332 applicants; and 31 years old and above with 15,176 applicants.

The Comelec also received the following: 48,997 Applications for Transfer from Other Cities/Municipalities; 11,670 Applications for Transfer from within the same City/Municipality; 2,295 Applications for Transfer with Reactivation; 752 Applications for Transfer with Reactivation and Correction of Entries; 2,645 Applications for Transfer with Correction of Entries; and 16,497 Applications for Reactivation.

It also received 3,679 Applications for Reactivation with Correction of Entries; 11,346 Applications for Change of Names/Correction of Entries; 28 Applications for Inclusion of Record in the Book of Voters; 5 Applications for Reinstatement of Name in the List of Voters; and 980 Applications for Transfer from Overseas Voting to Local.

Data from the Comelec- Election and Barangay Affairs Department (EBAD) also showed that the total number of all applications processed is at 334,027.

Voter registration resumed July 4 and will end on July 23, 2022.
