ATOK, Benguet -- A passenger was killed, while three others were slightly injured after a large chunk of rock fell on their vehicle on Monday afternoon, July 4, along Halsema Highway, Kilometer 53, Barangay Cattubo, in this town.
The Atok Municipal Police Station identified the victim as Richardick Amoy Cayacay, 52, of Poblacion, Tadian, Mt. Province while the injured were Manuel Jr. Lictao Ubongen, 54, driver, Susan Cayacay Ubongen, 59, and a 15-year-old student. All are residents of Camp 8, Kennon Road, Baguio City.
According to police, the accident occurred around 1:40 p.m. and was reported around 2:45 pm.
The vehicle which was bound for La Trinidad, Benguet, was hit by a rolling boulder.
Passersby who saw the incident immediately helped and rushed the victims to Atok District Hospital, Sayangan, Paoay, Atok, Benguet, but Richardick was declared dead on arrival by attending physician Dr. Rajiv D Laoagan.
