San Juan local execs take oath

The San Juan City local government held on Tuesday, June 28, the oath-taking ceremony for its newly-elected officials who vowed to continue to give San Juaneños excellent public service amid the Covid-19 pandemic and beyond.

Prior to the oath-taking and inauguration event, a Thanksgiving Mass was held at the Filioil Flying V Arena presided by St. John the Baptist Parish Priest Monsignor Vicente Bauzon.

After the mass, San Juan City Mayor Francisco Zamora and other city officials were formally sworn into their respective offices.

Senator Imee Marcos, who hails from San Juan City, administered the oath of office to Zamora and his sister Atty. Bel Zamora, the first woman elected to represent San Juan in Congress.

Mayor Zamora won by a very huge margin against his opponent during the last elections and will serve his second consecutive term in office.

He led the city's laudable and award-winning Covid-19 response and interventions with San Juan City leading the country in vaccination rate, both for the complete doses and the 1st booster shot with 264.01 percent and 104.56 percent of its target population, respectively.

He also led the distribution of a total of 19 waves of food ayuda or food aid, the most any LGU has given during the pandemic.

“I am really grateful to the San Juaneños who have again entrusted to me the position of Mayor for the second time. This is even more gratifying because this just means that the people of San Juan trust us and approve of our leadership during our first term,” Zamora said.

Mayor Zamora’s team took a 15-0 sweep of all the local positions in the last elections to continue the “Makabagong San Juan” program.

“This has been our promise to the people of San Juan, and for the past three years, we already have constructed new and modern barangay halls, multi-purpose buildings, wooden covered basketball courts, public school buildings. We are currently constructing two high rise, in-city, socialized public housing buildings and two national government centers. We have been consistently recognized for our Covid-19 response and intervention programs, and many more. We vow to continue giving our constituents the best life that the Makabagong San Juan can offer,” he said.

Team Makabagong San Juan is composed of Mayor Zamora, Vice Mayor Warren Villa, Atty. Bel Zamora for congresswoman, Angelo Agcaoili, Paul Artadi, Raissa Laurel, Ryan Llanos Dee, Ervic Vijandre, and James Yap for councilors in District 1.

The team’s councilors for District 2 are Don Allado, Totoy Bernando, Bea de Guzman, Macky Mathay, Kit Peralta, and Franco Tañada-Yam.
