Acting Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Secretary Emmanuel Rey R. Caintic has recently met with incoming DICT Secretary Ivan John E. Uy for a smooth transition of leadership.
During their transition meeting last June 8, Caintic and Uy discussed the country’s digital agenda plans and programs.
“We look forward to Incoming Secretary Uy’s leadership and are now starting to work with him to ensure the smooth transitioning of the Department’s programs, projects, and initiatives as we prepare to hand over to the next set of ICT leaders,” Caintic said in a statement.
Caintic said that he is “confident” that the country will benefit from the “effective leadership” of the incoming DICT secretary.
“We will be working closely with the next administration for the sustainable progress of our national ICT agenda,” he added.
According to him, he and Uy have a common goal of “continuing the advancement of digital transformation for the Filipino people.”
A transition report has been prepared by Caintic and other officials of the DICT which will be submitted to the Office of the President and the incoming administration.
The DICT noted that the transition report includes highlights of the agency’s program accomplishments, proposed legislative agenda, the status of current projects, and other organizational plans such as budget and human capital, and resources.
Uy is a known information technology (IT) law expert.
Under the administration of former President Benigno Simeon “Noynoy” C. Aquino III, Uy served as the chairperson of the Commission on Information and Communication and Technology or CICT, the precursor of the DICT.
