At least 200 VCMs across PH need replacement, PPCRV says

Church-based poll watchdog Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) on Monday, May 9, said at least 200 vote counting machines (VCMs) across the country need replacement.

“As of now we have received a report that there’s a request for at least 200 replacement of VCMs nationwide,” said PPCRV chief tech officer Van Dela Cruz.

However, upon being questioned if this is alarming, Dr. William Yu of PPCRV said that 200 VCMs out of over 107,000 is “not yet alarming” considering that the country is using old machines.

PPCRV is an accredited citizens’ arm of the Commission on Elections (Comelec). Its tasks include monitoring the unofficial parallel count and validating votes by checking election returns via information transmitted through their servers.
