The country's judiciary will get more support from the government if Senator Emmanuel 'Manny' Pacquiao wins in the presidential race.
Pacquiao gave the assurance on Tuesday as he lamented the lack of budget for the Philippine courts that hinder the lawyers and judges from bringing immediate justice.
The lawmaker's pronouncement came at the time two key witnesses in the drug charges against Senator Leila de Lima, who has been detained for five years, recanted their statements and admitted being forced to implicate the senator in the charges.
"Ang akin lang naman din, pakiusap ko lang din naman na tulungan din naman natin yung mga judiciary natin, yung judicial system natin dahil maliit yung budget di sila masyado makagalaw (For me, I'm asking if we can help the judiciary, the judicial system, because they have a small budget and they cannot do their work well)," Pacquiao said.
"Walang suporta ng ating gobyerno, limited lang ang budget nila (They do not have the support of the government. Their budget is limited)," he added.
