More than 30,000 PNP personnel to avail of local absentee voting


More than 30,000 policemen and civilian employees are expected to cast their vote earlier than the May 9 polls as the Philippine National Police (PNP) starts the three-day local absentee voting for its personnel.

PNP chief information officer Police Brig. Gen. Roderick Augustus Albas said a total of 3,248 PNP personnel assigned to the National Headquarters at Camp Crame have already signified their intention to avail of the absentee voting as of April 25.

"Our police regional offices will take charge of the local absentee voting in their respective areas," said Alba.

He said it will start on April 27 and will end on April 29.

Policemen were allowed to vote earlier than the election day as they are at the frontline of election security.

Aside from policemen, also allowed are soldiers, some government employees and media practitioners.
