Jericho Rosales got a nod for Best Actor under the Drama category at NewFilmmakers Los Angeles (NFMLA) 2022 for his performance in "Basurero."
The actor happily shared the news on his social media account.
He wrote: "This little jeepney made it to Hollywood! Cheers team!"
Note "Basurero" is also nominated for Best International Drama there.
The movie, released in 2019 and directed by Eileen Cabiling, follows the story of a Filipino fisherman, who, desperate for cash, turns to dumping bodies into the sea for vigilantes.
Jericho also shared a link of a Variety article containing the list of nominees.
There, NFMLA is described as a nonprofit organization that supports emerging filmmakers and artists through a monthly series of screenings and events in Los Angeles.
The nominees for its Best of NFMLA slate are films that have screened as part of the NFMLA Monthly Film Festival selection in 2021.
This year, the awards honor 125 nominees across 16 categories, including achievements in features, documentaries, shorts, experimental media and a best new filmmaker award.
According to the same Variety report, $15,000 will be provided to select Best of NFMLA winners.
