PNP vows to comply with Palace's orders on missing sabungeros

The Philippine National Police (PNP) vowed on Tuesday, March 8, to comply with the Malacañang to conduct a thorough investigation on the cases of 34 missing cockfighting aficionados (sabungeros) and to submit its findings within 30 days.

PNP chief information officer Brig. Gen. Roderick Augustus Alba said the PNP has been focusing its resources to solve the cases of missing gamers in Metro Manila, Laguna, Rizal and Batangas.

"As we have stated during the Senate inquiry on the missing cockfight gamers, rest assured that the PNP is on top of the investigation. The probe of the cases has been ongoing and important pieces of evidence continue to be gathered," said Alba in a statement.

"Pursuant to the President’s directive, the PNP reiterates its commitment to meet the 30-day period for the submission of the case findings," he added.

The PNP, through its Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), has started investigating the incidents last month in connection with the six cockfighting aficionados who were abducted at the Manila Arena in January this year. The six victims are yet to be accounted.

Since then, more cockfighting aficionados were reported in Rizal, Batangas and Laguna and the background check revealed that there were also cabugenros who were kidnapped last year for a total of 34. All of them ate still missing.
