Cebu City cops undergo mass COVID testing

CEBU CITY – The Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) subjected its personnel to a mass swab testing.

Police Lt. Col. Wilbert Parilla, Deputy City Director for Operations, said the mass testing was conducted on Friday after almost all personnel manifested COVID-19 symptoms.

Parilla admitted that several CCPO personnel, including two officials, have been infected with the virus.

Police Col. Ernesto Tagle, chief of CCPO, ordered the immediate mass testing so that those who tested positive will be immediately isolated and closely monitored by the Regional Health Service 7.

Parilla disclosed that the purpose of the mass testing is to prevent some personnel to commit unnecessary absences.

The test is to make sure the presence of the infection as some may not report to work and pretend that they got infected, said Parilla.

Parilla said those who tested positive were allowed to take a sick leave and have themselves isolated.

Parilla assured that the CCPO will continue to function even if some personnel gets infected with COVID.

Parilla said that just like in 2020, some offices were locked down but continued to function.

CCPO personnel was advised to strictly observe health protocols even if most of them are already fully vaccinated.

Results of the mass testing will be available on Monday, Parilla said.
