The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed a three-point bridge system in Siargao island which was constructed as part of the government's efforts to boost sports and tourism in the area.

Siargao Island is a regular venue for international sports competitions such as surfing, and the completion of the bridge through the DPWH Caraga Region will enhance the accessibility and mobility of people, goods and services in the country’s surfing paradise.
Aside from the sports facilities, Surigao Del Norte is also one of the top tourist destinations for local and foreigners for its pristine beaches, mystical underwater caves, parks and sanctuaries.
President Duterte led the inauguration of the infrastructure project amounting to P848 million.

Also inaugurated were other infrastructure projects of the government led by President Duterte that supports the sports development program and tourism in Siargao Island.
The 3-Point bridge system is the finalization of constructing the 348.8-meter Catangnan-Cabitoonan Bridge, 75.8-meter Libertad Bridge 1 and the 36.8-meter Libertad Bridge 2 along the 11.847-kilometer Dapa Port–Consuelo-Corazon–Sta. Cruz–Sta. Fe–Libertad–Cabitoonan Catangnan–Gen. Luna Road.
It is expected bolster tourism activities by providing easier and faster access going to Siargao Island.
Also completed by DPWH is a 6.3-hectare Siargao Sports Complex, which includes the construction of multi-purpose buildings with basketball gym and volleyball and badminton indoor courts.
A two-storey Siargao Sports High School Building was also built, with other field improvements improve accessibility, mobility and prevent flooding at the sports complex located in Barangay Osmeña in the Municipality of Dapa.
Also present during the inauguration were Senator Bong Go, Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar, DPWH Undersecretary Eugenio R. Pipo Jr. representing Secretary Roger G. Mercado, Surigao Del Norte Governor Francisco T. Matugas, and Congressman Franciso Jose F. Matugas II.
Other officials who attended the event at Dapa, Siargao Island are Assistant Secretary Ador G. Canlas of DPWH Regional Operations in Mindanao, and Regional Director Pol Delos Santos and Assistant Director Nomer Canlas of DPWH Regional Office 13, Surigao Del Norte 1st District Engineer Alex Ramos, and other public works and local officials of the Province of Surigao Del Norte.
