MMDA chief to probe P3-B unfinished flood, traffic works in 2020

Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Benhur Abalos will summon all those involved in the P3-billion unfinished flood and traffic control projects in 2020 after they were flagged by the Commission on Audit (COA) in its latest report.

In its report, COA found out that only 27 out of the 94 programmed flood control projects last year were completed.

The incomplete projects were due to delays in procurement and release of the Special Allotment Release Order (SARO) from the Department of Budget and Management.

Abalos, who took the reins of the agency in January this year, said that they acknowledge the observations of the country's state auditor on its 2020 Annual Audit Report.

He vowed to "summon all those involved in the projects mentioned on the COA report and have the matter thoroughly investigated."

The COA report also reported that the total cost of delayed traffic-related projects last year is at P1.885-billion.

Since Abalos assumed the MMDA leadership, he already mandated contractors to speed up the completion of projects under the agency.
