DAVAO CITY – The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) held a groundbreaking ceremony for its housing program in Datu Abdullah Sangki town in Maguindanao province on Tuesday, March 30.
The 50 units of permanent core shelters with solar-powered light and community water system in Barangay Guinibon is part of the KAPYANAN or Kapayapaan sa Pamayanan project.
In a statement on Wednesday, March 31, KAPYANAN Deputy Project Manager Engr. Abdulnasser Usman said the construction of the entire housing project costs P23-million.
Usman said a total of 1,130 core shelters will be constructed for Maguindanao province, 1,000 for Lanao del Sur, and 500 for Tawi-Tawi under the approved 2019 Target Areas of Housing Projects
He said for the year 2020, a total of 5,000 core shelters will be built in all the five provinces including Maguindanao, Lanao del Sur, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi. Usman said in Lanao del Sur, 800 units will be built under the KAPYANAN project and 200 through the Ministry of Human Settlement and Development.
KAPYANAN Engr. II Datu Herie Pagayao added that each shelter shall have a floor area of 36 square meters with two bedrooms, living room, dining and kitchen area.
Meanwhile, Engr. Nasruddin Oyod, the partner-implementer of the project who represents the joint-venture company of Gemma Construction Supply, Inc. of Koronadal City and ALPXR Construction and Builders Corporation from Tacurong City said they aim to finish the construction of the housing projects within 365 days.
