CALASIAO, Pangasinan – A 19-year-old student emerged unscathed after the car he was driving slammed into a tree and steel fence on the Calasiao-San Carlos Road in Barangay Mancup here Sunday.
Police Lt. Col. Ferdinand “Bingo” de Asis, police chief here, said Rob Edison Demaisip of Barangay Buenlag, this town, was driving a metallic orange Toyota Vios with conduction sticker A2R-810 and registered under the name of Richmond Perez of Barangay Balingueo, Sta. Barbara, this province, about 1:45 a.m. when he lost control of the steering wheel and crashed into a tree and steel fence owned by Carmen Maningding, 77.
Demaisip got out of the car with no visible injury and was taken to the Pangasinan Provincial Hospital for checkup while the vehicle was turned over to the custody of the duty barangay official. The car was a total wreck.
Dentist wounded in Dagupan shooting
Meanwhile, a 26-year-old dentist was wounded in a shooting incident on Don Severino St., Bunuan Boquig, Dagupan City, this province, Sunday.
Police Lt. Col. Louise Benjie Tremor, Dagupan chief of police, said the victim, Cristine Joy dela Peña of San Jacinto, this province, was onboard a car with her driver and a passenger at 3 p.m. when two men appeared and opened fired from behind the vehicle.
Dela Pena sustained bullet wounds in her shoulders. The gunmen fled while she was taken to a government hospital in Dagupan.
Dagupan police are conducting dragnet operation against the suspects.
