Cebu eases travel restrictions for tourists, no longer requiring swab test results

Cebu is no longer requiring swab test results for travellers entering the province for tourism-related purposes.

Cebu Gov. Gwen Garcia issued Executive Order No. 12 Monday that eased the travel restrictions for domestic tourists in a bid to help revive the economy "that has regressed due to COVID-19 pandemic.

"Under the EO, persons travelling to the province to engage in tourism-related activities will be allowed entry by presenting a valid medical certificate which shall be the only requirement for the purchase of a ticket for travel via air, land, or sea.

The medical certificate shall be issued by a reputable doctor and within seven days prior to the travel date.

Tourists must also present pre-booking at a resort or hotel establishment where they shall stay during the duration of the visit.

The resort or hotel establishment should be located within the province and duly accredited by the Cebu Provincial Task Force.

Cebu-bound tourists must also pass symptoms checking or screening at the point of departure and at the point of arrival.

The easing of travel restrictions came after the governor met with tourism stakeholders and officials of the Department of Health-Central Visayas.
