As a newcomer in the audio sector, Huawei has quickly laid solid foundations in the industry through the word of mouth and sales of its HUAWEI FreeBuds and FreeLace series have been very successful. During its success in the audio market, Huawei has introduced its first over-ear headphones, the HUAWEI FreeBuds Studio, making its official entrance into this market.

Leveraging Huawei’s cutting-edge audio technology, how does HUAWEI FreeBuds Studio light up the audio market? And what kind of experience would it bring to consumers? Read on to find out.

Intelligent dynamic ANC for comfortable noise cancellation experience

There are many ANC earphones in the market, but they usually use one noise cancellation mode to address all noisy scenarios. As a result, even though the earphones can lower the noise level in noisy locations such as the subway, they might become unnatural when they are moving to a relatively quiet place.

The HUAWEI FreeBuds Studio features a dynamic perception system and ANC control system that consists of a built-in IMU sensor and microphone system. The dynamic perception system allows the headphones to accurately identify and judge the ambient sounds, while the ANC control system uses multiple microphones to identify the noises around the scenes, thus intelligently switching between three modes: Ultra Mode, General Mode and Cozy Mode.

For instance, when you are on a flight or a train where it is very noisy, the headphones will automatically switch to Ultra Mode. In places like restaurants and cafes, they will change to General Mode. Likewise, in quiet locations like a library or an office, it will adapt to Cozy mode for more natural and comfortable noise cancelling effects.

In addition to smart ANC features, the HUAWEI FreeBuds Studio also provides two Hear-through Modes, Awareness Mode and Voice Mode. When walking down the street, you can press the ANC button on the left earphone to activate the Awareness Mode, so that you can stay aware of the sounds of the vehicles, ensuring your safety while enjoying the music. HUAWEI FreeBuds Studio also has a unique voice mode, which can reduce ambient sound while accentuating clearer human speech, meaning you can have quick conversation without taking off the headphones. Using this mode, you can also stay aware of the announcements in the subway or at a bus station.

High resolution audio for Hi-Fi sound quality

Listening to music brings joy, and this increase when you have a great music player and high-quality music working together. The HUAWEI FreeBuds Studio is powered by a Hi-Fi level audio chip which is commonly used in high resolution music players. It can effectively reduce audio signal distortion and background noises to generate pure and detailed sounds. The headphones also feature a 4-layer 40mm polymer diaphragm that provides a wider frequency response and higher sensitivity. The chip and the diaphragm together allow HUAWEI FreeBuds Studio to offer an ultra-wide frequency response range from 4Hz to 48kHz, delivering high resolution music with rich details.

At the same time, to address sound quality damage during audio transfer, HUAWEI FreeBuds Studio adopts Huawei's self-developed high-resolution codec—L2HC to support high speed yet stable audio transfer at up to 960kbps. It effectively reduces quality loss during coding and transmission, while restoring the original fullness and fineness of high-quality music, letting the users feel the charms high quality music brings.

Seamless connection with two devices

As the era of interconnection is coming at an increasingly fast pace, owning multiple devices has become the norm for digital citizenship. HUAWEI FreeBuds Studio supports dual-device connection with Android, iOS and Windows devices, so there will be no need for connection switching if the user is using more than one device. For instance, the HUAWEI FreeBuds Studio can be connected with a tablet and a smartphone at the same time. When you are listening to music or watching a video on the tablet, you still can receive calls directly using the headphones without reconnecting the smartphone - so you’ll not miss any important calls.

More importantly, HUAWEI FreeBuds Studio is the first in the industry to feature a dual-antenna design, which offers a 360° Bluetooth signal coverage. The antennas can intelligently detect signal blocking and automatically switch to the other antenna, ensuring stable connection and uninterrupted calling experience even at an airport and other places with strong signal interference.

The debut of the HUAWEI FreeBuds Studio is undoubtedly an important step Huawei is taking in the field of audio. It is not only Huawei’s innovation in acoustic system and smart audio, but also an important move in further growing Huawei’s audio product portfolio. With its excellent performance in noise cancelling, sound quality and smart connection, the HUAWEI FreeBuds Studio will help Huawei increase its footprint in the premium headphone market, letting more consumers enjoy Hi-Fi level audio on wireless headphones, while adding new vitality into the headset market.
