By Charissa Luci- Atienza The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Wednesday, May 20 said it has submitted to the Land Transportation Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB) the "master list of cleared beneficiaries" for the next batch of drivers of Transportation Network Vehicle Services (TNVS), Motorcycle Taxis (MC), and Public Utility Vehicles (PUVs) who will receive the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) emergency subsidy. The department clarified that before they submit the final list of driver-beneficiaries to the LTFRB, they will conduct cross-matching and stringent validation to ensure that there is no duplication of government assistance. "Once the cross-matching of the batch is completed, DSWD will send the master list of cleared beneficiaries to the LTFRB for the preparation of the payroll and DSWD will facilitate the transfer of funds to the Landbank of the Philippines," the Department said in a statement. "Currently, the Department has submitted the result of its name-matching to the LTFRB and is now awaiting for their payroll and certificates for the next batch of driver-beneficiaries who will receive assistance," it noted. The DSWD disclosed that as of May 14, 2020, a total of 62,028 qualified MC, PUV, and TNVS drivers have already been served and got their SAP subsidy, amounting to P496.2 million. "The Department has already deposited more than P496 million cash assistance to MC, PUV, and TNVS drivers’ accounts in the National Capital Region (NCR) through the LBP and G-Xchange, Inc. (GCash)," it said. It said more than 44,000 driver-beneficiaries have withdrawn their subsidy, amounting to more than P357 million. "DSWD also asked for public understanding since the Department wants to guarantee that there will not be any duplication in the official list of SAP beneficiaries," the Department said. It advised the driver-beneficiaries to check their names in the LTFRB website (http://ltfrb.gov.ph) before they claim their grants. To claim their grants, eligible SAP recipients must bring their driver’s license and photocopy of driver’s license with two specimen signatures to Land Bank. "DSWD will continue to coordinate with LTFRB and other agencies providing assistance during the community quarantine period to ensure that the resources of government will reach the rightful beneficiaries," it said. Last week, the DSWD announced that the SAP driver beneficiaries in Metro Manila may get their cash subsidies via GCash from any Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) nationwide. "If qualified driver-beneficiaries chose the GCash payout method, they will receive an SMS on their GCash registered cellphone and they can claim it from any authorized GCash agents or merchants," the DSWD said. The Department said the faster and contactless SAP payout for the families of TNVS drivers was made possible after the DSWD and the Department of Transportation (DoTr)-LTFRB forged partnership with G-Xchange, Inc. (GCash) for the distribution of cash subsidies to households of drivers of TNVS and PUV in the NCR.
