MANILA, Philippines — The 5th Student Advertising Congress will be held on Feb. 8, at One Esplanade, SM MOA Complex in Pasay City.

With theme “Are We Ready to Level-up in the Next Adscape”, the event will see students competing in three categories: tri-media: print, 30 sec radio and 30sec TV; new digital media, five-sec pop-up in the internet and five-sec in MMS; and best social media marketing. Int'l College of Dentists marks 45th year

The International College of Dentists (ICD) Philippines Section will celebrate its 45th anniversary through an annual convocation and banquet on Jan. 29, 5 p.m. at the Edsa Shangri-La Hotel in Mandaluyong City.

With its theme, “Continuing the Tradition of Service,” the annual convocation will have former Supreme Court Chief Justice Reynato S. Puno as guest of honor and inducting officer. Highlight of the event is the induction of new officers led by Marilyn A. Leung; new Fellows, Drs. Niceto Astudillo, Angela Centeno, Caroline Franco, Alvin Laxamana, Maria Laarni Serraon, Ma. Jocelyn Tan, Tagumpay Tapawan, and Angelica Torres; and conferment of Honorary Fellowship to Jocelyn U. Ong, assistant manager, Professional Relations Management Division of Unilab. Ong was cited for her significant contributions to making ICD undertakings a success.

Dr. Leung, who has vast experience in prestigious organizations such as the Association of Philippine Orthodontists, Board of Philippine Orthodontics takes over from Dr. Rosita S. Tan.

Over the years, ICD has been assisting mostly the underserved segments of society. In 2011, under the leadership of Dr. Tan, it was able to implement socio-civic projects that include the upgrading of a deep well in Daine Elementary School in Indang, Cavite; a dental outreach program in Smokey Mountain, Tondo; gift-giving activity to patients of the Philippine Children’s Medical Center and National Children’s Hospital; and a comprehensive cleft lip and plate care program in cooperation with Noordhoff Cranofacial Foundation Philippines, Inc and Mosskids Apparel, Inc.

ICD is also involved in projects such as the Faculty Development Research Workshop for faculty members from the different dental schools and the Student Scholarship Program.
