Man arrested for gun possession after motorcycle accident in Manila


A man was arrested for illegal possession of firearm after he figured in a motorcycle accident in Ermita, Manila, police reported on Thursday, September 26.

The Manila Police District (MPD) identified the suspect as Kenny Roger Tolentino, 27, a resident of Caloocan City.

According to the MPD report, the police were patrolling the stretch of Taft Avenue last Saturday, September 21, when they saw the suspect's motorcycle crash on road.

They immediately approached him to check his situation, but the suspect quickly boarded his motorcycle and sped off towards Roxas Boulevard service road.

While fleeing, the suspect collided with another motorcycle, causing him to fall again.

He abandoned his motorcycle and ran towards L. Guerrero Street, prompting the police to chase him.

During the pursuit, the suspect drew a firearm from his waistband.

The officers managed to disarm and arrest him with the help of a security guard who witnessed the incident.

Police recovered from the suspect a 9mm pistol loaded with eight bullets, along with his identification cards.

They said that the suspect's motorcycle had no plate number and necessary documents.

The suspect is now in MPD custody and is facing charges for violation of Republic Act 10591 (The Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) and Article 151 (resistance and disobedience to a person in authority).
