OVP warns public vs scammers pretending to be its employees

Vice President Sara Duterte asked the public’s help to report information or questionable transactions using the name of the Office of the Vice President (OVP) as she warned against such scams being proliferated by some groups.

In an advisory posted on her Facebook page earlier this week, the official shared a statement by the OVP against such scams.

“Binabalaan ng Office of the Vice President ang publiko laban sa mga tao o grupo na ginagamit ang pangalan ng OVP, at nagpapakilala bilang konektado o empleyado ng OVP (The Office of the Vice President warns the public against individuals or groups who are using the OVP’s name, and introducing themselves as connected or employees of the OVP),” it read.

“Mangyaring makipagtransaksyon lamang sa mga lehitimong opisina at empleyado ng OVP (Transact only with the legitimate office and employees of the OVP),” the advisory added.

In the post, the OVP also asked for the public to provide information on questionable transactions using the name of the agency.

Anyone who needs to report such groups or individuals can call the OVP hotlines 8352-5942 or 8370-1719.

Duterte's office said they can also reach out to the nearest police station.

The post on Duterte’s Facebook page so far has more than 5,800 reacts, 164 comments, and 589 shares.

The comments expressed support for Duterte, whom they said was a victim of political mudslinging owing to her topping the latest presidential preferential survey for 2028.
