The Rain or Shine two-way guard was hard on himself after his stellar performance went down the drain in the 101-98 Game 1 loss to the defending champion San Miguel.

Mamuyac sustained his fine play from the quarterfinals, leading the way for the Elasto Painters with 20 points and seven rebounds while being the main man tasked to slow down the vaunted backcourt of the Beermen that featured CJ Perez and Terrence Romeo.

The 25-year-old guard, however, lamented his crucial turnovers in the endgame as well as a missed defensive assignment when Perez scored on a crucial and-1 play late in the contest.

“Masyado ata akong gigil kasi ang dami ko ring turnovers. Makita mo yung last two possessions ata namin may turnover ako,” said Mamuyac after the game.

Mamuyac and the ROS defense actually held Perez to just seven points through the first three quarters but went on to drop six in the final frame to finish with 13 points.

“Crucial din yung and-1 niya kay kuya Beau (Belga) kanina which is galing sa akin isa rin yun, ganun lang talaga kagaling CJ,” Mamuyac said of Perez.

“CJ Perez pa rin yun never  mo pwedeng sabihin na kapag may off night sya  tuutuloy yung  offnight nya ganun yung mga magagaling eh ganun ung mg agreat players they really find a way lalo na when it mattered the most,” he added.

Aside from Perez, Mamuyac said Rain or Shine needs to make sure there’s a body in front of Marcio Lassiter who got SMB’s offensive night going after dropping 16 points – built on four triples – in the first half.

“Defensively, I think nagawa naman naming icontain mga kailangan naming icontain except si Marcio. Medyo nakarami si Marcio for sure mag aadjust kami doon,” he added.
