Troops cited for neutralizing DI-MG sub-leader, 4 followers


The Armed Forces-Western Mindanao Command cited troops from the Joint Task Force Zamboanga Peninsula-Lanao (ZamPeLan) for neutralizing a sub-leader of the Daulah Islamiyah-Maute Group and four of his followers in Lanao del Norte on Monday, April 29.

TROOPS recover personal belongings from the slain DI-MG bandits. 

“I commend our soldiers for their untiring dedication to their duties as we expedite the neutralization of the remnants of the terror groups in our area of operation,” Lt. Gen. William Gonzales, Wesmincom chief, said.

“Rest assured that with the support of the local government units and the communities, we will soon achieve our goal of putting the sickening problem of terrorism to an end,” Gonzales added.

The military identified the slain DI-MG members as Najeb Laguindab, alias Abu Jihad and Abu Yad, subleader of the group; Johaiver Dumar, alias Juhayber and Julaibib; Salman Dimapinto Nasrudin, alias Shuay’b, and Mohaimen Hadji Ali, alias Ibn Sali, one of the lookouts during the December bombing of the Mindanao State University Gymnasium, and an alias Muslima and Payko.

Troops recovered one M16 rifle, one M14 rifle, and other war materials in the encounter site.

Joint Task Force ZamPeLan commander Major Gen. Gabriel Viray III said five soldiers were wounded and immediately extricated from the area.
