Septuagenarian's body found floating in irrigation canal

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan – The body of a 74-year-old man was found floating in an irrigation canal in Barangay Banguian, Abulug, Cagayan, on Friday, March 15.

The victim was identified as Ernesto Nicolas.

Georgina Tabur, Abulug Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer, said they received a report about a drowning incident at around 10 a.m.

They proceeded to the area and retrieved the victim’s body at 12:25 p.m.

Tabur said that his family was looking for him on Thursday night but failed to find him.

Investigation about the incident is ongoing.
