Police identified the suspect as Ranjit Singh, who is residing in Barangay San Isidro, Talisay City, Cebu.

Investigation showed that Singh arrived in the house of Jose Enjambre in Barangay Perrelos past 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 4.

Enjambre’s daughter is Singh’s former girlfriend, police said.

Police said the Indian looked for Enjambre’s daughter and asked if they could talk.

The woman refused to face Singh and this caused the suspect to get irked.

Police said an angry Singh took a gallon of gasoline, splashed it on the house before lighting a matchstick that caused the house to catch fire.

Fortunately, firefighters arrived and prevented the flames from spreading to other houses.

A multicab parked in front of the house was also damaged.

Fire damage was estimated at P255,000, police said.

Responding police arrested Singh, who is facing a charge for arson.
