3 women killed, 4 wounded in Caloocan shooting

Three women died while four others were wounded when they were shot by their neighbor in Barangay 10, Caloocan City on Wednesday evening, Feb. 15.

The Caloocan City Police Station (CCPS) said that two of the deceased were relatives with ages 72 and 39, while the other victim was 48 years old.

Initial police investigation showed that the suspect, William Jaymee Sy, 46, shot the victims while he was at the terrace of his house at the corner of Gen. Luna and 5th Streets at around 6:40 p.m. on Wednesday.

The victims were all outside their homes when the incident happened.

Col. Ruben Lacuesta, CCPS chief, said one of the victims, who was just passing by the area, was also shot by the suspect and was declared dead on arrival at the Caloocan City Medical Center. The two other victims died on-the-spot.

The four injured victims were rushed to the hospital for treatment.

The suspect was immediately arrested by responding CCPS personnel.

Authorities recovered from the suspect one Glock 17 9mm pistol, a revolver, a shotgun with eight bullets, an ammunition box, a folding knife, and two cellphones.

Lacuesta said investigators have yet to determine the motive behind the shooting.

He said that the suspect lives alone in his house and only receives money from his family abroad.

He added that the suspect will undergo drug testing.

The suspect will be charged with three counts of murder, four counts of frustrated murder, and for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, the CCPS chief said.
