What it’s like to be a female photographer in a male-dominated industry
I grew up in the province and it has always been my goal to move to Manila to reach my dreams. My friends know how much of a highly competitive person I am: I live for challenges, always pushing myself to the limits. I love photography and I knew this the moment I laid my hands on a 35mm film camera. It wasn’t easy nor too difficult to do. It was the perfect industry to be in—highly competitive and dominated by men.

Photo of the Week: ‘Rayos Del Sol’
“This was taken during the landscape photography workshop in Batanes conducted by Jijo De Guzman. It was the final day of our trip, and we had a scheduled sunrise photoshoot at Diura Beach which features some big limestone formations, carved by the powerful waves that struck the island. Luckily, when we arrived at the location, the sky started to cast crepuscular rays, caused by the clouds that were blocking the sun. Quickly, we headed to look for compositions, and as for me, I ended up choosing the largest rock as my foreground, placing exactly the rays behind it. I wanted to capture the blessing of a majestic sunrise, having that sense of hopeful and glory of a new day.” – Bayani dela Pasion

What’s the First Thing to Do in Lightroom?
We are restarting following a long hiatus in this pandemic, so let’s go back to the basics and understand the processes in Lightroom. Then later, we shall tackle what’s new with Lightroom 2021 and Photoshop 2021. For example, a new and exciting development from Adobe is Super Resolution, new in Adobe Camera Raw inside Photoshop 2021, which enlarges images up to four times, ideal for large displays and prints. And since ACR and Lightroom are twins, expect this soon in Lightroom, too. By the way, ACR 13.2 is looking a lot like Lightroom now with a film strip down below in the interface, but that’s for later.
