Malacañang said the government’s pandemic task force was set to meet to finalize the list of new businesses that will be allowed to reopen under the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ).

President Duterte has asked for the public’s understanding following his decision to extend for another two weeks the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) in the National Capital Region-plus (NCR-plus) bubble area, saying it was necessary due to the spike of coronavirus (COVID-19) cases.

Local government officials may be slapped with administrative and criminal charges if they don’t enforce the quarantine rules in their areas of jurisdiction, President Duterte warned Wednesday, April 28.

President Duterte has extended the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) in the National Capital Region-plus (NCR-plus) bubble area until May 14, 2021 days after the country reached its millionth coronavirus (COVID-19) case this week.

President Duterte may announce the new quarantine classification for the month of May on Wednesday, April 28 as his weekly public address was also moved to the said date, Malacañang said.

The government’s pandemic task force is set to take another look at the healthcare system of the National Capital Region-plus (NCR-plus) bubble area before deciding on its quarantine classification for the month of May.

Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) has ordered Manila Water Company Inc. and Maynilad Water Services Inc. to suspend anew their respective service disconnection activities.          

Group workouts of pro teams and training of national athletes will remain prohibited even if Metro Manila and provinces inside the NCR Plus bubble were placed under a looser Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine guideline Monday, April 12.
